Join me, please, in compiling a list of words and phrases that need to be retired. This list will be a work in progress, as they come to mind. I’ll avoid corporate jargon and consultant speak on this page. I think that’s deserving of its own future entry. Here, I’ll start:
Any combination of survive/thrive
The overuse of “awkward”
Passion (but not in the animal-dance sense)
Engage (in a business sense, not in an anti-marriage–gay or otherwise–sense)
Starting every sentence–every single sentence–with “So …”
The overuse of “experience,” as in, “creating experiences.” That means nothing to me.
